If you saw the game today, you saw an encapsulated Tigers season. It was ugly! Awful and ugly!
But first, Freddy Garcia pitched brilliantly today. His line was 5IP 2H 2R 3BB 3SO. He would have won this game, all on his own, had he not suffered a neck injury in the sixth. We were up 2 – 1 with no outs, Chicago had a runner on second. Galarraga came on in relief and promptly threw two wild pitches. (This is the same guy who was one of our points of light through-out the season.) The tying run scored and we just fell apart. We had reached our expiration date! When the milk goes bad… it goes REALLY BAD! Alexei Rameriz belted his fourth grand slam off of Gary Glover, setting a rookie record! Then, it was smooth sailing for the ChiSox for the rest of the game. They won 8 – 2 and have one game tomorrow against the Twins. The winner will win the AL Central and head to the play-offs!
The Tigers wrap up the year in last place, one game behind the Kansas City Royals.
