I am breathing easier tonight.
As finally, for the first time this season, the Detroit Tigers put a notch in the win column, by beating the Blue Jays 5-1.
The last two nights have been disastrous, but tonight, everything seemed to be moving in their direction.
Here are some highlights…
Miguel Cabrera launched two shots, a three run homer to left in the first, and another one out to center in the fourth.
Brandon Inge, according to David Vincent of SABR, became the first Tiger to hit a home run in each of the first three games to start the season.
Zach Miner, who pitched poorly during the spring, was able to keep it together after a rough first inning.
Ryan Perry entered the game, and pitched a perfect eighth in his major league debut.
And, lastly, tonight went so well for the Tigers, even Fernando Rodney came on in the ninth, and was able to finish off the Blue Jays, without any of the drama that has typically accompanied him.
Nice job tonight!
Let’s do it again tomorrow.
